Yandina: From Staging Post to Township

Celebrating 150 years since the establishment of Yandina

Yandina: From Staging Post to Township

This digital story explores the community stories, history and significant events of Yandina. The film was launched as part of the Yandina Street Fair celebrations in August 2018.

Yandina was proclaimed in 1870, making it the first gazetted town in the Maroochy district, and one of the oldest towns on the Sunshine Coast.

Thanks to Audienne Blyth for the link to this short documentary that the Sunshine Coast Council made about our town’s origins in collaboration with the Yandina & District Historical Society.

Yandina Stories of Our Seniors – Seniors Week 19th August 2018

Yandina is planning a fabulous recognition of our European 150 years, starting with Stories of Our Seniors for Seniors Week, 19th August in the School of Arts Hall.

Sunshine Coast Council are looking to celebrate with us by extending the celebrations to include all the small towns that will be turning 150.

2018 is the 150th year since land was taken up by Europeans in what is now Yandina.

The Heritage Division of Council is also preparing a short movie of our early history, which will be launched at 10am in the School of Arts Hall.

Plan your time to view the history, before you head across the road and enjoy the Yandina Street Fair.
