Yandina Hotel
The Yandina Hotel is the oldest licensed Hotel in Queensland. John Gustave Sommer originally built the hotel in 1888-1889 on the corner of Farrell Street and Old Gympie Rd. In 1892 Sommer used rollers hauled by bullock teams to move the Hotel to its present site in Stevens Street near the Yandina Railway Station. While the hotel was being moved they continued to serve beer and upstairs Mrs Sommer, the owner’s wife, gave birth to a son!
